12 Countries, 59 Days: A Train Trip of a Lifetime
Ever dreamed of hopping on a train and just going? That's exactly what I did. I spent 59 days exploring 12 countries across Europe, all while riding the rails. It was an epic adventure that left me with unforgettable memories and a renewed appreciation for the beauty of train travel.
The Journey Begins
My journey started in Paris, the City of Lights. I boarded a high-speed train to Brussels, a city with a rich history and a charming vibe. From there, I hopped on a train to Amsterdam, a place known for its canals, tulips, and, well, you know. It was a whirlwind of culture and delicious food!
From The Netherlands to Germany and Beyond
The train journey continued through Germany, a land of castles, forests, and lederhosen. I spent a few days in Berlin, exploring the city's iconic landmarks and soaking up the energy of the city. Then, it was onto Prague, a city straight out of a fairytale. The Czech Republic stole my heart with its stunning architecture and delicious beer!
A Glimpse of the Eastern Bloc
Next up, Poland. Krakow was a highlight, with its historical Jewish quarter and the Wawel Castle. I even ventured into Slovakia and took a side trip to the High Tatras mountain range, which was breathtaking.
Heading South Through Europe
My train journey took me further south through Hungary, Romania, and Serbia. Each country had its own unique charm. Budapest's thermal baths were a welcome respite, Bucharest was a mix of old and new, and Belgrade surprised me with its vibrant nightlife.
Mediterranean Magic
The final leg of my journey took me through Montenegro, Croatia, and Slovenia. The Montenegrin coastline was stunning, Croatia had its ancient walled cities, and Slovenia offered alpine beauty. The journey ended in Venice, a city floating on water, full of canals and gondolas. It was a fitting finale for a truly epic train adventure.
Why Take a Train Trip?
It wasn't just about the destinations, though those were amazing. It was about the journey itself. Train travel allows you to slow down, immerse yourself in the landscapes, and truly connect with the places you visit. It's a more authentic way to travel, and you get to see so much more than you would if you were just flying.
