Day 1 at Lord's: England Dominate, Pakistan Struggle
The first day of the third Test between England and Pakistan at Lord's was a complete rollercoaster. England absolutely dominated, leaving Pakistan in a real pickle.
It was a day of contrasting fortunes. England, fresh off their thumping win at Headingley, were on fire from the start. They bowled with precision, fielding with gusto, and batted with a swagger that left the Pakistani team feeling lost.
England's Bowling Masterclass
The English bowlers were simply unplayable. Mark Wood, in particular, was a menace, bowling with raw pace and hostility. He rattled the Pakistan batsmen, picking up three wickets, including the crucial scalp of Babar Azam. The other bowlers chipped in too. Stuart Broad, with his experience and cunning, snagged two wickets, while Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue were also impressive.
Pakistan's Batting Woes
Pakistan, in contrast, looked out of sorts. Their batting crumbled under pressure, with no one able to stand up to the English attack. Their top order, led by the experienced Babar Azam, collapsed like a house of cards. They lost wickets in quick succession, and never really recovered.
Stokes Leads England Charge
At the end of the day, England's captain Ben Stokes was the hero. He led from the front, both with the bat and the ball. He batted with his usual aggression, scoring a brilliant 80, which helped England to finish the day with a commanding lead.
Day 1 - A Tale of Two Teams
It was a tough day for Pakistan, but credit to England, who played some fantastic cricket. They bowled with accuracy, fielded with passion, and batted with a swagger that was a sight to behold. The first day at Lord's was all about England.
Will Pakistan be able to recover and make a fight of it? Or will England continue their domination? We'll have to wait and see what day two brings.
