All Saints Day: Aquinas School Celebrates its Shining Stars
It's that time of year again - the leaves are changing, the air is crisp, and Halloween is just around the corner. But before we get caught up in the spooky fun, it's important to remember the true meaning of this season: remembering those who have gone before us. And what better way to do that than with a celebration of all those who inspire us?
This year, Aquinas School decided to take a unique approach to All Saints Day. Instead of focusing solely on the saints of the church, they decided to honor the students themselves. "We wanted to create a day where our students felt celebrated and recognized for all their hard work and dedication," said Principal Ms. Johnson.
And celebrate they did! The day kicked off with a special assembly where each grade level presented a "Saint of the Day" - a student who exemplified qualities like kindness, perseverance, and academic excellence. These "Saints" were chosen by their classmates and teachers, making the experience truly special.
The celebration continued with a special All Saints Day Mass, followed by a school-wide art project. Students created colorful banners featuring portraits of their "Saints" and messages of inspiration. The artwork was then displayed throughout the school, creating a beautiful and uplifting atmosphere.
But the most impactful part of the day was the personal connections that were made. Students had the chance to share their appreciation for each other, and teachers got to see their students shine in a new light. "It was amazing to see how much our students care about each other," shared Ms. Johnson. "They were so proud to celebrate their classmates and even more proud to be recognized themselves."
By focusing on the good in their community, Aquinas School created a truly meaningful All Saints Day. It was a day of celebration, inspiration, and a reminder that we all have the potential to be saints in our own way.
