Boston College vs Louisville: Opponent Q&A
It's rivalry week in the ACC! Boston College is gearing up for a big matchup against the Louisville Cardinals, and we're here to break down what the Eagles need to know about their upcoming opponents.
To get the inside scoop, we reached out to our friends at Card Chronicle, Louisville's SB Nation blog, and asked them to give us the lowdown on the Cardinals.
Here's what they had to say:
What are Louisville's strengths?
Card Chronicle: "Louisville's strength lies in their offense, specifically their ability to run the ball. They've got a dynamic duo in the backfield with Jawhar Jordan and Maurice Burkley, who both can make big plays. The offensive line has been solid, giving their running backs ample opportunity to get going.
On the defensive side of the ball, their secondary has been a bright spot. They've got a few playmakers who can make life tough for opposing quarterbacks. And hey, they've got Malik Cunningham, who's a threat with both his legs and his arm."
What are Louisville's weaknesses?
Card Chronicle: "Louisville's defense has been pretty inconsistent this year. They've struggled at times to stop the run, and they've been susceptible to giving up big plays. The pass rush hasn't been as effective as they'd like, and that's something they'll need to improve upon.
Another concern is that Louisville's offense has been a little too reliant on the run. They need to find a way to get their passing game going consistently. If Malik Cunningham can't make plays with his arm, the Cardinals will be in trouble."
What is a key matchup to watch for?
Card Chronicle: " One key matchup to watch will be the BC offensive line against the Louisville defensive line. The Eagles have a strong running game, and if they can establish the ground game early, it will open up the passing game for Emmett Morehead. If the Cardinals can disrupt BC's run game, it could be a long day for the Eagles."
How do you see this game playing out?
Card Chronicle: "This game is definitely going to be a tough one for both teams. It's going to be a battle in the trenches, and the team that can win that battle will likely win the game. I think it'll be a close game, but I'll give the slight edge to Louisville."
Thanks to Card Chronicle for the insights! This matchup is going to be a great one, and we're excited to see how it plays out. Go Eagles!
