Chelsea Crushes Panathinaikos in Champions League Opener
Chelsea kicked off their Champions League campaign with a bang, absolutely smashing Panathinaikos 4-1 at Stamford Bridge. It was a dominant performance from the Blues, who looked every bit the European giants they're known to be.
From the get-go, Chelsea were on the front foot, pushing the Greek side back into their own half. It was a relentless attack, with waves of Chelsea players flooding the box. The first goal came in the 19th minute, a beautiful curling effort from Raheem Sterling that left the Panathinaikos keeper with no chance.
The second goal was a real team effort. N'Golo Kanté intercepted a pass in midfield and played a lovely ball to Mykhailo Mudryk, who then slotted it home with a cool finish. Chelsea were rampant!
Panathinaikos finally managed to get on the board with a well-taken goal just before half-time, but it was a mere consolation prize. The second half was much of the same, with Chelsea dominating possession and creating chance after chance.
Nicolò Barella sealed the deal with a powerful strike from just outside the box in the 65th minute. Then, in a move that would've made the Chelsea faithful cream their jeans, Mudryk scored his second of the night with a delightful chip over the keeper in the 77th minute.
The Blues looked absolutely unstoppable! This was a statement performance, a clear indication of Chelsea's intent to make a serious run for the Champions League title. This win will give them a huge boost in confidence and momentum heading into the rest of the competition.
With a performance like this, you gotta ask, who can stop Chelsea?
