COM Students Weigh In: Who's Got the Votes in the 2024 Race?
The 2024 Presidential Election is heating up, and everyone wants to know who's gonna win. But hey, let's be real, the real pulse of America is in the hands of those who really get it: the Communication Studies majors!
So, we hit the halls of the COM building, armed with clipboards and a whole lotta curiosity, to ask our fellow students: who's getting your vote in 2024?
We polled a diverse group of COM students, from freshmen just starting their journey to seniors ready to take on the world (and maybe cast a ballot for President). The results? Well, let's just say it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows.
The Landscape of COM Student Opinions
The results were surprisingly varied, with no single candidate dominating the conversation. Some students were passionate about their picks, while others seemed unsure, a bit overwhelmed by the whole political circus.
The most talked-about issues? You guessed it: climate change, economic inequality, and the future of social media.
One student, a junior majoring in Public Relations, summed it up perfectly: "I'm looking for someone who can actually communicate with us, someone who understands our generation's anxieties and hopes. Someone who's gonna fight for what matters to us."
The Candidates and Their Appeal:
While the names of specific candidates weren't always mentioned, a clear pattern emerged. Students, especially those in the media studies track, showed a strong interest in candidates who focused on transparency and accountability, especially when it came to media manipulation.
One senior, a Broadcast Journalism major, even mentioned being "tired of the whole 'fake news' thing." He wanted a leader who "understood how media impacts our lives and wouldn't just exploit it for political gain."
The "COM Factor"
It's clear that the COM student body is far from apathetic. They're engaged, critical thinkers, and they expect their future president to be, too.
This poll showed us that the next president needs to be more than just a good speaker. They need to be a strong communicator, a master of persuasion, and someone who can connect with the digital generation in an authentic way.
The 2024 election is gonna be one for the books. But one thing's for sure: the students of COM are ready to make their voices heard.
And hey, who knows, maybe they'll be the ones who tip the scales in the end.
