Day 2: SDE US - Onboarding & Company Culture: From "Newbie" to "One of the Team"
So, Day 2 of my SDE journey in the US. I was starting to feel like a real "newbie" yesterday, but today felt like I was taking a giant leap from "fresh-out-of-college" to "one of the team."
The Onboarding Deep Dive: Learning the Ropes
It was all about onboarding today. I was thrown into a whirlwind of information, but in the best way possible! It felt like a crash course in the company's culture, tech stack, and how things actually work. This wasn't just "here's the handbook, good luck," it was a deep dive.
We met with our managers, got a walkthrough of all the internal tools, and even had a hands-on coding session to get us familiar with their codebase. It was super helpful to see how the company's code was structured and how they approach development.
Company Culture: Collaboration and Innovation
One thing that stood out was the company's culture. It's super collaborative, which was a big relief. Everyone was eager to help, answer questions, and even share their own experiences. It felt like everyone was invested in helping the "newbies" succeed.
The company's commitment to innovation was also evident. There's a real sense of excitement around new technologies and pushing the boundaries of what's possible. This really resonated with me, as I'm someone who's always eager to learn and explore new things.
Getting Comfortable: A Bit of Anxiety, but Mostly Excitement
Of course, there was a bit of anxiety mixed in with the excitement. It was still early days, and I knew there was a lot to learn. But I was confident that the company's support and the collaborative environment would help me get up to speed quickly.
By the end of the day, I felt like I'd made a real connection with the team. There was a sense of camaraderie, and I knew that I'd be able to learn and grow in this environment.
Looking Forward: The "Real Work" Begins
Tomorrow, the "real work" begins! I'm a bit nervous, but mostly excited. I'm ready to dive in, learn from the best, and contribute to the team's success. I can't wait to see what's in store for me in the coming weeks and months.
