Dickinson's "Babygirl" Brings Nicole Kidman to the Wild West
Remember those days when you’d watch The Hours on repeat and dream of being a writer like Virginia Woolf? Me too. Now, imagine that that Virginia Woolf, the one played by the iconic Nicole Kidman, is living out her days in the Wild West. That’s the premise of “Babygirl,” the latest short story by the brilliant mind behind the hit Apple TV+ series Dickinson, Alena Smith. And guess what? Kidman is back in the saddle, this time starring in Smith's “Babygirl", which is a wild, twisted, and captivating journey.
Smith, known for her ability to inject contemporary themes and language into classic literature, does it again with “Babygirl.” The story, while not explicitly a Dickinson spinoff, certainly carries the show’s signature wit and originality. It's a bit like if Dickinson met Westworld, which, let’s be honest, sounds like a major dream project.
Kidman & Smith: A Dream Team
Smith, in an interview, gushed about working with Kidman again. “I’ve always admired Nicole's ability to inhabit a character,” Smith said, “and she truly brought Virginia to life in a way I never thought possible.” The story, we hear, takes place in the Wild West, where Kidman's Virginia is not your typical 19th-century woman.
The plot is shrouded in mystery, but whispers are circulating about a saloon, a gunfight, and a “Babygirl” who may or may not be a ghost. The story's setting and characters are a far cry from the typical Victorian era, but Smith insists that the story stays true to Virginia Woolf’s essence.
This isn't Smith's first rodeo with unconventional stories. She's already won over audiences with her unique take on Dickinson, and "Babygirl" is sure to continue that trend. We can’t wait to see what Smith and Kidman have cooked up this time – and we can’t wait to see how Virginia Woolf takes on the Wild West.
