"Don't Move" Review: Netflix's Stiff Competition

Netflix is known for churning out a ton of content, but lately, it feels like they're struggling to keep up with the competition. "Don't Move" is a perfect example of this. It's a new thriller about a family being held hostage, but it just doesn't have that "oomph" to stand out from the crowd.

A Familiar Story with a Lackluster Execution

Let's face it, the whole "family trapped in a house" scenario is pretty played out. We've seen it in countless movies and TV shows. And unfortunately, "Don't Move" doesn't really bring anything new to the table. The plot is predictable, the characters are underdeveloped, and the suspense is just kind of...meh.

The film tries to spice things up with some twists and turns, but they're all pretty obvious. You can see them coming a mile away. And honestly, the whole thing felt like a giant "been there, done that." It's like Netflix took a bunch of thriller tropes, threw them in a blender, and hit "puree."

The Competition is Stiff

One of the biggest problems with "Don't Move" is that it just doesn't stack up to the thriller heavyweights out there. Netflix has some incredible true-crime documentaries and shows like "The Watcher" and "The Night Agent" that set a high bar for suspense and intrigue. "Don't Move" just falls short.

The acting is pretty decent, but the characters themselves are so generic, you can't help but feel disconnected from them. And the pacing is all over the place - sometimes it drags, and then all of a sudden it's speeding ahead. It just didn't feel like a well-crafted film.

Should You Watch It?

Honestly, if you're looking for a thrilling escape, I wouldn't recommend "Don't Move." There are just so many other great options out there. If you're really into the whole "family trapped" thing, maybe give it a go. But be warned, you might just end up feeling underwhelmed.

Netflix needs to step up its game if they want to stay ahead in the streaming wars. They need to deliver fresh, original content that grabs our attention and keeps us on the edge of our seats. "Don't Move" just doesn't cut it.
