"Don't Move" Review: A Thriller That Just Doesn't Move You
Okay, so I went into "Don't Move" with high hopes. It had all the ingredients for a gripping thriller: a remote cabin, a mysterious threat, and a group of friends with secrets. But unfortunately, this movie fell flat. It's like the director hit the "pause" button on the tension halfway through.
The premise is simple enough: a group of friends gather at a secluded cabin for a weekend getaway. But things take a turn when they realize they're being watched. The film tries to build suspense with jump scares and creepy phone calls, but the whole thing felt predictable and lacked the punch you'd expect from a thriller.
The Characters Are One-Dimensional
I struggled to connect with any of the characters. They were all pretty typical, with their own little quirks and secrets, but none of them felt particularly interesting. The characters are so basic that you don't care if they live or die.
The script also doesn't give much depth to the characters' motivations. They just feel like plot devices rather than people you can relate to.
The Plot Isn't as Tight as it Should Be
The plot was a bit of a mess. There were some twists and turns, but they weren't particularly surprising. The film also felt drawn out and repetitive. Some scenes dragged on, leaving me checking my watch and wondering when the excitement would actually start.
It's a Shame, Because the Atmosphere Was Okay
"Don't Move" did have its moments. The cabin setting was pretty creepy, and the sound design added to the overall atmosphere. However, the film couldn't sustain that feeling of dread for long.
Overall, I'd say "Don't Move" is a missed opportunity. It had the potential to be a decent thriller, but it just didn't deliver. If you're looking for a good scare, you're better off looking elsewhere.
