Dune: Showrunner Explains Why the Series Dropped "Prophecy" from Its Title
You guys, the "Dune" series is already a hit, but remember how it used to be called "Dune: The Sisterhood" and then "Dune: Prophecy?" Well, the showrunner, Diane Duane, finally explained the title change, and you'll never guess why!
It was all about avoiding spoilers!
Diane said they decided to drop "Prophecy" from the title because it would have given away too much about the show's plot. Can you imagine, walking into a theater expecting a Dune-based show about the Sisterhood, only to have it all spoiled by "Prophecy" in the title?
"It was just a way to keep the audience engaged and to make sure they didn't know what they were getting into," Diane explained. "We wanted people to come in fresh and be surprised by the story we were telling."
But you're probably wondering why the title didn't just become "Dune: The Sisterhood" then?
"Honestly, it was just too long, and "Dune" is a powerful name on its own." Diane admitted. "We wanted to keep it short and sweet."
The new title is still pretty mysterious, though!
So, what is this series all about? You'll have to watch it to find out. But one thing's for sure: Diane Duane is keeping us on our toes, and I'm excited to see what this "Dune" universe has in store!
The show is set to premiere on HBO Max on November 10, 2023.
And hey, while we're at it, did you catch the "Dune" movie with Timothée Chalamet? I loved it! It was a real masterpiece, and it really brought Frank Herbert's vision to life. The way they used the sandworms! Amazing.
So yeah, "Dune: The Sisterhood" - now just "Dune" - is definitely worth checking out!
