DWP Extends £750 Payments: Who Qualifies?
It’s official! The DWP is extending those sweet £750 payments to help people with the cost of living crisis. But, you gotta be quick, because it's not a free-for-all.
This extension is all about helping people who are really struggling. It's a bit like a lifeline for those who are drowning in bills and feeling the pinch every day.
So, who's eligible?
First up, you need to be claiming one of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Income Support
- Pension Credit
The DWP also has some other requirements:
- You need to have been receiving one of these benefits on August 16, 2023.
- You're also not eligible if you're already receiving the Cost of Living Payment for 2022/23.
When will the money arrive?
The DWP is starting to roll out the payments in November 2023. It's not a super fast process, so be patient! You should get the cash in your bank account automatically, you don't need to do anything.
I need this cash, how do I check if I qualify?
The easiest way to check is to head to the DWP website. You can find all the information you need there about eligibility and deadlines. They've also got a handy Cost of Living Payment calculator that'll tell you if you're in the running.
Don’t forget, this is a limited-time offer! Get your application in before it’s too late.
What about the other cost of living payments?
There are also some other payments coming down the pipeline, so keep your eyes peeled! This includes a payment for disabled people and a winter fuel payment for pensioners. The DWP will be making announcements about these in the coming months.
A bit of advice:
If you're struggling with finances, it's always best to speak to someone. There are lots of organizations that can help you with debt advice and financial guidance. Don't be afraid to ask for help!
