England Dominate Greece in Thrilling Qualifying Match
England absolutely smashed Greece in their latest Euro 2024 qualifier, with a final score of 3-0. It was a real clinic from the Three Lions, who were on fire from the get-go. The win keeps them top of Group C, cruising towards the Euros next summer.
So, what went down?
First Half:
Right off the bat, you could tell England were up for it. They were buzzing, moving the ball quickly, and creating chances. They were so close to taking the lead in the first 10 minutes, with Harry Kane coming inches away from scoring a beauty of a header.
But the breakthrough finally came in the 34th minute. A brilliant cross from Bukayo Saka landed perfectly for Kane, who calmly slotted the ball past the Greek keeper.
The second half began with England just as dominant, and it didn't take long for them to add a second. A lovely bit of play saw Saka weave past a couple of defenders before crossing the ball for Phil Foden, who finished it with a tap-in.
Second Half:
Greece tried to fight back, but England were just too strong. They had the ball in the back of the net again in the 73rd minute, with Kane grabbing his second of the game. But it was ruled offside after a VAR check.
England eventually got their third in the 85th minute. A delightful free-kick from Saka was headed in by Kalvin Phillips, who was in the right place at the right time.
Game Highlights:
- Kane's opener: The captain looked sharp and dangerous all game, and his goal was a classic Kane finish.
- Saka's assist: He was a real livewire, constantly threatening the Greek defense. His assist for Foden was a thing of beauty.
- Phillips' header: A great finish from the midfielder, who was excellent in the midfield engine room.
