Brazil and Colombia Get a Lucky Draw in Women's World Cup
The 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup is almost here, and the excitement is building. This year, two South American teams, Brazil and Colombia, got a pretty friendly draw. That means they're in good shape to make it through the group stages.
Brazil Gets a Smooth Road
Brazil, ranked 9th in the world, was placed in Group F. They'll be facing off against Panama (ranked 52nd), France (ranked 5th), and Jamaica (ranked 43rd). This group is a good mix of strong and weaker teams. Brazil is favored to top this group and should advance to the knockout rounds. They have a great chance to make a deep run in the tournament.
Colombia Gets a Similar Draw
Colombia, sitting at 25th in the world ranking, has a similarly favorable group. They've landed in Group H with Germany (ranked 2nd), Morocco (ranked 72nd), and South Korea (ranked 17th). It's a solid group, but not as strong as some of the others. Colombia has a great chance to get through the group stage, and even make it to the round of 16 with a good showing.
A Big Opportunity
It's safe to say that both teams have gotten a good draw, but it's not a guaranteed win. You can't underestimate any team in a world cup. Brazil and Colombia will need to bring their A-game to get out of their groups. But they have the talent and the experience to do just that.
Let's go, South America!
