George's Take on the 76ers' Last Play vs. Suns: A Classic Case of "What Could Have Been?"
Let's face it, Sixers fans, the Game 7 loss to the Suns was brutal. We were on the edge of our seats, and the pressure was unreal. But, you know what really gets me? That last play. It was a mess, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
What happened? It was a tie game with seconds left on the clock. The ball ended up in Embiid's hands, and instead of trying for a game-winning shot, they ran a play that ended with Tyrese Maxey taking a contested three-pointer. It wasn't even a close call, and the ball went out of bounds.
Now, I get it. The Sixers needed a three to win. But in my opinion, they should've tried to get the ball into Embiid's hands for a final shot. I mean, the guy's a monster! We saw him hit game-winners all season long.
Think about it. If they had just gone for the two-point shot, they could have forced overtime. That's what they should have done. I'm not saying it would have been easy, but at least it would have been a chance. And hey, maybe that's just me being a grumpy Sixers fan
Here's the thing, I'm not blaming Maxey or anyone on the team for the loss. They played their hearts out. But the last play just didn't make any sense to me. It felt like a lost opportunity. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm still scratching my head over that one.
What do you guys think? Was it a bad call, or am I being a little too hard on the Sixers? Let's talk about it in the comments.
