India vs New Zealand: Day 1 - A Rollercoaster Ride Ends With a "Rohit-ful" Disappointment
The first day of the first Test between India and New Zealand in Kanpur was a real nail-biter! From a shaky start to a commanding lead, the day had it all.
India, batting first, found themselves in a spot of bother early on. New Zealand's bowlers, especially Tim Southee, were on fire, taking early wickets and putting the pressure on the Indian batsmen.
But, our boys fought back! A solid partnership between Mayank Agarwal and Cheteshwar Pujara steadied the ship, and then, Captain Rohit Sharma walked in and took the game by storm. He unleashed a flurry of boundaries, looking in complete control. It was pure joy watching him bat.
But, just when it felt like India was going to cruise to a huge first innings score, disaster struck! Rohit, after a stunning 111, was dismissed by a clever delivery from Kyle Jamieson. It was a heartbreaker!
Despite Rohit's departure, India managed to put up a respectable total. They finished the day at 258 for 4. The wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant, was batting on 110 not out, which was awesome to see.
Overall, it was a day of highs and lows for India. They were in a commanding position, thanks to Rohit's brilliance, but his dismissal has definitely given New Zealand a glimmer of hope.
Day 2 promises to be even more exciting! Will India be able to capitalize on their strong start? Or will New Zealand fight back?
Let's see what happens!
