Interview: Paul Geaney's Dingle Vision
Paul Geaney is a legend in Gaelic football. He's won All-Irelands, All-Stars, and captained Kerry to glory. But beyond the silverware, he's got a vision for his beloved Dingle, a small coastal town in County Kerry, Ireland.
I had the chance to chat with Paul about his plans to revitalize the town, attract visitors, and create a sense of community. It was a super interesting conversation, and it became clear that he's not just talking the talk, he's walking the walk.
"Dingle is special," Paul said. "It's got this magic about it, this incredible beauty. But it needs a bit of a boost, a bit of a kickstart. We need to make it a place where people want to come, to stay, to invest."
He's not wrong. Dingle's got the stunning scenery, the vibrant pubs, the welcoming locals, but it's been struggling with tourism seasonality. That's where Paul's vision comes in.
"We need to diversify," he said, "We need to offer more than just the typical tourist experience. We need to create a community for artists, for entrepreneurs, for anyone who wants to live a good life by the sea."
Paul's plan is to create a hub for creativity and innovation. He's talking about art studios, co-working spaces, and even a "Maker's Village" where people can develop their skills and build businesses.
It's a bold vision, but Paul's got the drive and the passion to make it happen. He's already working with local businesses and community groups to turn his ideas into reality.
"I believe in Dingle," he said, "I believe in its future. We can create something truly special here, something that benefits everyone."
Paul's vision is not just about tourism, it's about building a community. It's about making Dingle a place where people want to live, work, and create. And that's a vision worth getting behind.
