Red Devils Stumble in West London: Brentford Beat Man United 4-0!
It was a nightmare start to the Premier League season for Manchester United. The Red Devils were absolutely battered by Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, losing a humiliating 4-0. It was a performance that left everyone scratching their heads, wondering what on earth happened to the team that finished sixth last season.
The first half was a horror show for Erik ten Hag's men. Brentford were relentless, pressing high and winning the ball back quickly. They were clinical in front of goal, scoring three times in the first 35 minutes. Josh Dasilva opened the scoring after just 10 minutes with a cheeky finish. Then, Mathias Jensen doubled the lead with a thunderous shot from outside the box. Just before half-time, Ben Mee added insult to injury by heading in a corner to put the Bees 3-0 up.
What Went Wrong for United?
It was a complete team failure. The defense was all over the place, the midfield was non-existent, and the attack was toothless. Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez, two of the new signings, had a particularly difficult afternoon. They just couldn't get into the game.
The second half didn't bring any improvement. Brentford continued to dominate possession and create chances. In fact, they even managed to score a fourth goal in the 88th minute through Bryan Mbeumo. It was a truly devastating defeat for United.
What’s Next?
Ten Hag has a lot of work to do. He needs to figure out how to get this team playing as a unit. They need to be much more organized and much more aggressive.
It's still early days, but this defeat has thrown up serious questions about their chances this season. Can they bounce back? Can they even get a result in their next game against Liverpool? It's going to be a tough ask.
Stay tuned for more Premier League action!
