Liverpool Player Ratings: Brighton Gave Us a Proper Run for Our Money
So, the Reds went to the AMEX and got a draw against Brighton. Not exactly the result we wanted, but a point is a point, right? Let's break down the individual performances with some player ratings and see who shone and who struggled.
The Good, the Bad, and the So-So
Alisson (7/10): Had a couple of decent saves to keep us in the game, but also made a few nervous moments with some misplaced passes. Thankfully, nothing too serious, but it's not the kind of performance we're used to seeing from him.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (6/10): Not his best game, but he still provided a couple of dangerous crosses. Definitely looked like he was struggling to find his rhythm, though. Maybe Brighton's high press got to him a bit.
Ibrahima Konaté (8/10): Solid as a rock. Konaté was a beast in the back, winning pretty much every aerial duel and making some crucial tackles. He was definitely our best defender on the day.
Virgil van Dijk (7/10): Another solid showing from the big Dutchman. Didn't have a particularly standout performance, but he commanded the backline like he always does. A bit of a rusty start, but he got into the game nicely.
Andy Robertson (7/10): A lot of energy from Robertson, as usual. He was constantly pushing forward and trying to create chances. His crosses weren't the best, but he was always a threat going forward.
Fabinho (6/10): I'm gonna be honest, Fab looked a bit off the pace. He struggled to get into the game and wasn't his usual dominant self in the midfield. Hopefully, it's just a one-off, but we need more from him going forward.
Jordan Henderson (7/10): Always a leader on the pitch, Henderson was a driving force for us. He covered a lot of ground and put in some crucial tackles. He also tried his best to get us going in attack.
Harvey Elliott (6/10): Started well, but faded as the game went on. He was trying his best to create chances but was a bit too eager at times. Could've been a bit more composed in possession.
Cody Gakpo (7/10): Had some great runs and looked dangerous throughout the match. He was unlucky not to score. He's starting to look more comfortable in the team, which is a good sign.
Mohamed Salah (6/10): Not his best game, but he was still a threat. Couldn't quite get his shooting boots on and didn't manage to break down the Brighton defense. Still, he's always capable of popping up with a moment of magic.
Darwin Núñez (7/10): I have to give him props for his work rate. He was constantly hassling the Brighton defense and was a nuisance all over the pitch. He also came close to scoring, but couldn't quite find the net.
Overall Thoughts
It was a frustrating game. Brighton played with a lot of intensity and were really up for the fight. We weren't at our best, but it was still a good point considering we weren't at our best. Hopefully, we can bounce back next time and get a much-needed win.
