Liverpool Player Ratings: Brighton Victory - A Solid Performance, But...
Okay, so Liverpool got the three points against Brighton, and that's what matters most. But let's be honest, it wasn't exactly a vintage performance, was it? There were some bright spots, some players who really stepped up, but others who… well, let's just say they need to do better.
The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Let's dive into the individual ratings, shall we?
Alisson Becker - 8/10
Alisson was a rock in goal, as usual. He pulled off a couple of fantastic saves, keeping us in the game during some hairy moments. We really wouldn't want anyone else between the sticks right now.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 7/10
Trent looked back to his best, bossing the right flank, whipping in dangerous crosses, and even scoring a sweet free-kick! He was definitely one of the standout performers.
Virgil van Dijk - 7/10
Big Virg was solid as always, a commanding presence in the backline. He dealt with the Brighton attackers well, and even popped up in the box to head a chance! He's a real leader.
Ibrahima Konaté - 6/10
Konaté had a decent game, but he wasn't quite as impressive as his center-back partner. There were a couple of shaky moments, but he held his own for the most part.
Andy Robertson - 6/10
Robertson was a bit quiet in this one. He was solid defensively but didn't really make his usual impact going forward. Hopefully, he'll be back to his best soon.
Fabinho - 6/10
Fabinho was a bit of a mixed bag. He was good in the air, winning a few vital headers, but his passing was a bit sloppy at times. We need him to be more precise in the middle of the park.
Jordan Henderson - 6/10
Hendo put in a shift, as always. He was energetic and broke up a lot of Brighton's attacks, but he wasn't really able to control the tempo of the game as we've seen him do before.
Curtis Jones - 6/10
Jones had a decent game, showing flashes of his talent. He's still a bit raw, but he's definitely got the potential to be a real star. We're looking forward to seeing what he can do in the coming months.
Mohamed Salah - 7/10
Salah was a threat all game long, creating chances and causing havoc for the Brighton defense. He should have scored at least one goal, but his finishing wasn't quite on point this time around.
Cody Gakpo - 5/10
Gakpo had a disappointing game. He missed a couple of good chances and didn't really impact the game as much as we'd hoped. Hopefully, he'll find his form soon.
Darwin Nunez - 5/10
Nunez was another player who failed to make much of an impact. He was wasteful in front of goal, and his movement was a bit off. We need him to start scoring goals consistently.
Subs:
Diogo Jota - 6/10 - He came on and gave us a bit more energy up front.
Luis Diaz - 6/10 - Diaz was lively and added a bit of creativity to the attack.
Harvey Elliott - 5/10 - Elliot was a bit quiet after coming on.
Overall:
It wasn't a perfect performance, but a win is a win. We'll take the three points and look to improve in the next game. We need to find more consistency in our attacking play and be more clinical in front of goal. But hey, at least we're still in the hunt!
