Liverpool vs. Leipzig: Nunez Shines, But Was It Enough?
Liverpool scraped a 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig in their second pre-season friendly, but it wasn't all smooth sailing. The Reds looked shaky at times, especially defensively, but Darwin Nunez stole the show with a brace.
The match was a bit of a rollercoaster. In the first half, Liverpool struggled to create clear-cut chances. Leipzig, on the other hand, looked lively and pressed high, forcing some nervous moments for the Reds. It was a bit of a wake-up call for Jurgen Klopp's side, who didn't exactly look like the dominant force they're known for.
But then came Nunez.
The Uruguayan forward, who arrived from Benfica for a hefty fee, finally got his first goals in a Liverpool shirt. His first was a cool finish after some fancy footwork in the box, while the second was a powerful header from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross. This is what we've all been waiting for!
Liverpool Player Report Card:
Alisson Becker: Made a couple of good saves, but looked shaky with the ball at his feet. 6/10
Trent Alexander-Arnold: Was involved in the build-up for Nunez's second goal and delivered a few pinpoint crosses. 7/10

Virgil van Dijk: The rock of the defense as usual, but did get caught out a couple of times. 7/10
Andy Robertson: A constant threat down the left flank, but his final ball could have been better. 6/10
Fabinho: Was his usual calm and composed self in midfield. 7/10
Curtis Jones: Looked energetic and dynamic, but didn't quite have the final touch. 6/10
Harvey Elliott: Had some good moments, but was taken off early with a knock. 6/10
Mohamed Salah: Quiet first half, but got more involved as the game went on. 6/10
Luis Diaz: Didn't have his usual impact, but still provided a threat down the left. 6/10
Darwin Nunez: The man of the match, with two goals and a clinical display. 9/10
Subs:
Cody Gakpo: Came on for Diaz and immediately made an impact, creating chances for the Reds. 7/10
Diogo Jota: Added some energy to the attack. 6/10
Overall, Liverpool's performance was far from convincing. While Nunez's goals provided a much-needed boost, they need to improve their defense if they want to challenge for trophies this season. The game against Leipzig was a good learning experience, and hopefully, Klopp will have his team firing on all cylinders for the start of the Premier League season.
