Horns Down, Wallet Down: Texas Faces Big Fine for Fan Behavior
Texas Longhorns fans, you’ve gotta chill out! It seems the burnt orange faithful have been a little too enthusiastic lately, and it’s cost the University of Texas a hefty price tag. The NCAA slapped the Longhorns with a $250,000 fine for fan misconduct at the 2023 Alamo Bowl.
What’s the big deal? Well, the NCAA isn’t messing around when it comes to fan behavior. The fine was levied because of several incidents involving Texas fans, including throwing objects onto the field and unsportsmanlike conduct towards the opponent.
This isn’t the first time Texas fans have been in hot water for their behavior. In 2019, the Longhorns were fined for fan behavior after the Red River Showdown, and in 2021, there were issues at a game against Oklahoma State.
It’s getting pretty frustrating, right? Texas Athletics is committed to improving the fan experience and ensuring everyone feels safe and respected at games. They’re working hard to create a positive atmosphere and to address any concerns about fan behavior.
How can Texas fans help? The simple answer is: Be cool and respect the game! Let’s show everyone that Longhorn fans are a class act and that we can support our team with passion and respect. The NCAA is watching, so let's make sure the Horns don't get hit with any more fines.
