Alastair Cook: Root Can Break Tendulkar Record
Alastair Cook, the former England captain, believes Joe Root could break Sachin Tendulkar's record of 15,921 Test runs.
Cook, who himself is England's highest Test run-scorer with 12,472 runs, knows a thing or two about scoring runs at the highest level. He believes Root, currently sitting on 10,363 runs, has the potential to surpass the legendary Indian batsman.
"He is young enough," Cook said in an interview. "He has got the potential to break it. He is a phenomenal player, and he has got the time to do it."
Root's Consistency is Key
Root's consistency in Test cricket has been remarkable. He's the only active player to have scored over 10,000 Test runs and holds the record for most centuries by an England batsman.
However, the task ahead is enormous. Tendulkar's record has stood for over a decade, and it seems almost insurmountable. To surpass it, Root will need to continue his impressive run-scoring form for the next few years.

While the task seems daunting, Root's dedication and the potential for another 5-6 years of Test cricket at the top level gives him a fighting chance. If he maintains his current form, breaking the record is not entirely out of the question.
