DeNA Takes Game 1 of CS Against Hanshin: Yokohama Takes the Lead in the Climactic Series
Yokohama, Japan - The Yokohama DeNA BayStars have taken the first game of the Central League Climax Series (CS) against the Hanshin Tigers in a thrilling 4-3 victory. The BayStars, who finished the regular season in second place, showed their championship potential with a strong pitching performance and timely hitting.
The game started off with a bang, as Hanshin's starting pitcher, Kaito Yamazaki, allowed two runs in the first inning thanks to a sacrifice fly from Jose Lopez and an RBI single from Neftali Soto. The BayStars' lead wouldn't last long, however, as the Tigers tied the game in the second inning on a two-run home run by Hiroki Uemoto.
The score remained deadlocked until the fifth inning, when DeNA's Shugo Nakamura drove in the go-ahead run with a single. The Tigers would score one more run in the eighth inning, but it wasn't enough to overcome the BayStars' lead.
BayStars' Pitching Staff Shines
The DeNA pitching staff was fantastic, with starter Takumi Akiyama pitching 6 strong innings, allowing just one run on three hits. He was followed by a solid relief effort from Yoshitomo Tsutsui and a save from closer Taiyo Yamashita.
Hanshin's Offensive Struggles
While Hanshin's bats were quiet for most of the game, the Tigers still showed their offensive potential. They'll need to put up more runs in the next games if they want to come back from this early deficit.
