A New Generation of Terror: 'Hand That Rocks the Cradle' Gets a Reboot with Winstead and Monroe
You know what they say, "History repeats itself." And for horror fans, that means the beloved (and terrifying) '90s classic, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, is getting a reboot!
While the original was a thrilling masterpiece of psychological horror, the new version has landed some big names for its cast: Annabelle Dexter-Jones (from The Society) and Annabelle Wallis (who you might know from Peaky Blinders). But the real excitement comes from the news that Michelle Monaghan will play the lead role of Claire Bartel, the woman whose life becomes a living nightmare.
Monaghan is best known for her roles in films like Mission: Impossible III and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, bringing a compelling combination of vulnerability and strength to her performances. She's definitely got the chops to pull off the terrified yet resilient mom that the role requires.
For those who haven't seen the original, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle follows Claire as she tries to rebuild her life after the tragic death of her husband. She takes a job as a nanny for a seemingly perfect family, but soon discovers that the new nanny, Peyton Flanders (played by Dexter-Jones), is not what she appears to be. Peyton, driven by a dark and vengeful agenda, slowly turns Claire's life into a terrifying and suspenseful nightmare.
The reboot is set to premiere sometime in 2024, so buckle up, folks! This might be the remake that's worth the hype.
