Supercars: Schwerkolt's Views on Toyota & Winterbottom
It's been a rollercoaster season for the Toyota GR Supra, with some highs and some lows. We've seen them battling at the front, but also struggling to find consistency. One man who's seen it all is veteran Supercars driver, James Schwerkolt. We caught up with him to get his insights on the Toyota team and their star driver, Chaz Mostert.
Schwerkolt is no stranger to the world of Supercars. He's been competing at the top level for years, and knows a thing or two about what it takes to succeed. He's also seen firsthand the evolution of the Toyota GR Supra, having raced against it since its introduction to the series.
"The Toyota team has definitely had some ups and downs this year," he says. "They started the season really strong, with Chaz getting a few wins and some podiums. But they've struggled a bit for consistency, and haven't been able to challenge for the championship."
But Schwerkolt is quick to point out that the Toyota team is still a force to be reckoned with. "They have a great driver lineup, with Chaz being a proven winner. And they've got a lot of talent within the team."
Schwerkolt also has some thoughts on Chaz Mostert's performance this season. "He's been fantastic, as always. He's always been a quick driver, but he seems to have really stepped up his game this year. He's been super consistent, and he's definitely a contender for the championship."
"However, the Toyota GR Supra has been a bit of a mixed bag this year," he says. "They've had some good races, but also some where they've struggled. The car seems to be a bit more difficult to drive than some of the other cars on the grid, but they are constantly working to improve it."
"Overall, I think the Toyota team is still a threat. They're a good team with a great driver, and they're always looking for ways to improve."
Schwerkolt's insights offer a valuable perspective on the Toyota team's current situation. While they may not be at the top of the leaderboard right now, they're still a team to watch. With their continued development and Chaz Mostert's unwavering drive, the Toyota GR Supra could be a force to be reckoned with in the latter half of the season.
