Q&A: Keshia Sandidge, Cabarrus School Board Member
Hey everyone, I'm excited to share a Q&A with Keshia Sandidge, a member of the Cabarrus County School Board. She's a powerhouse advocating for students and families, and I wanted to get some insights into her work.
So, Keshia, thanks for chatting with me. Let's dive right in! What inspired you to run for the school board?
Well, I have three children in the Cabarrus County School system, and I've always been passionate about education. I wanted to make sure that all kids in our community have access to a quality education, and I felt like the school board was a platform to help make that happen.
That's awesome. You've been on the board for a while now. What are some of the biggest challenges you've seen in Cabarrus County Schools?
I'd say the biggest challenge we face is funding. It's tough to give our teachers the resources they need, and keep up with the increasing demand for support services for students. We need to find creative solutions to make sure that our schools have enough money to succeed.
And on the other side of the coin, what are you most proud of accomplishing on the school board?
I'm really proud of the work we've done on student mental health. We've increased the number of counselors and social workers in schools, and we're working on implementing programs to address the emotional needs of our students. That's a huge win for our community.
What's on your agenda for the future of Cabarrus County Schools?
My goal is to ensure that every student has access to personalized learning. That means creating a learning environment that meets the individual needs of each student, regardless of their background or learning style. It's all about creating a more equitable and effective education system.
What's your message to parents and families in Cabarrus County?
I want to emphasize that we are all in this together. We need parents and families to be actively involved in their children's education. The school board is here to listen to your concerns, and to work with you to make our schools the best they can be. We need your voice!
Thanks so much for your time, Keshia. It's been a pleasure chatting with you.
