Safe Halloween: Trick or Treat with RCMP
Halloween is a time for fun, candy, and costumes! But it's also important to stay safe, especially when kids are out and about trick-or-treating. That's why the RCMP is here to help make sure everyone has a spooktacularly safe Halloween!
Trick or Treat with the Mounties!
The RCMP wants to ensure all trick-or-treaters have a safe and fun experience. We're working with local communities to create a safe environment for everyone. This includes:
- Visibility: RCMP officers will be patrolling neighbourhoods where kids are trick-or-treating. We'll be on the lookout for any suspicious activity and ready to assist anyone in need.
- Safety Tips: We'll be handing out safety tips to kids and parents, reminding everyone about the importance of staying in well-lit areas, crossing the street safely, and being aware of their surroundings.
- Community Partnerships: We're working with local organizations and community leaders to spread the word about Halloween safety. We'll be hosting events and sharing information to help everyone stay safe.
Keeping Kids Safe This Halloween
There are a few simple things you can do to help keep your kids safe while they're trick-or-treating:
- Plan your route: Make sure you know where your kids are going and what route they'll be taking. Discuss safe crossing rules and stick to well-lit, familiar streets.
- Costume safety: Make sure costumes are visible and that kids can see clearly. Avoid long, flowing costumes that could be a tripping hazard.
- Go in groups: Encourage your kids to trick-or-treat with friends or family. There's safety in numbers!
- Beware of strangers: Talk to your kids about being aware of strangers and avoiding contact with anyone they don't know.
- Check the candy: When you get home, be sure to check all the candy your kids have collected. Make sure it's unopened and not tampered with. If you have any doubts, throw it out!
