Day 2: Tech Talk and Lunch - My SDE Journey in the US
Alright, so day one was a whirlwind of introductions and getting to know the team. Day two was all about diving deeper into the tech and getting a taste of the Silicon Valley work culture.
Tech Talk: Diving into the Deep End
The morning started with a tech talk from one of the senior engineers. I was expecting a dry, academic presentation, but I was pleasantly surprised. The talk was actually super engaging! The engineer broke down the core technologies we use in a way that was easy to understand, even for someone like me who's still learning the ropes.
He explained how our platform interacts with different APIs and how the team is working on optimizing performance. It was fascinating to see how much goes on behind the scenes to make everything work smoothly.
We even got to see a live demo of the codebase, which was really cool. It felt like I was getting a peek behind the curtain of this massive system.
Lunchtime Delights: More Than Just Grub
After the talk, it was time for lunch! I gotta say, the food at our company cafeteria is awesome. There were tons of options to choose from, and it wasn't just your typical office lunch. It felt more like a real restaurant!
Lunchtime wasn't just about eating though. It was a chance to chat with colleagues, learn about their backgrounds, and get some insights into the company culture. Everyone was super welcoming and helpful, and I already felt like I was part of the team.
The Takeaway
Day two definitely cemented my excitement about this new chapter in my career. The tech talk was incredibly insightful, and lunch was a great opportunity to build connections and get a feel for the company culture.
I'm feeling confident and excited to keep learning and growing as an SDE here in the US. Who knows what adventures day three will bring?
