Thomas Aquinas School: A Celebration of Saints, Big and Small
Every year, the hallways of Thomas Aquinas School buzz with excitement for All Saints Day. It's not just a day to learn about the lives of holy figures, but a chance to celebrate the saints in our own lives. And let's be honest, sometimes those saints are our grandparents, our teachers, or even our best friends!
This year's celebration was extra special. It was like a time machine, taking us back to the Middle Ages with knights and princesses, monks and nuns. The kids even got to don their best costumes. It was a total blast!
Learning About the Saints, and Ourselves
The festivities kicked off with a special assembly. Our principal, Mr. Jones, spoke about the importance of the saints. He reminded us that these were real people who overcame real challenges to live their lives with faith and love. They weren't perfect, but they chose to strive for good, and that's what makes them inspiring.
Then, the kids took part in some fun activities. There was a "Saint Bingo" game, where they learned about the patron saints of different professions. Some of the kids were even brave enough to try a bit of calligraphy, which is like writing in fancy, old-school script. It was challenging but fun!
The Saints Are Among Us
The highlight of the day, though, was the "Saints Parade." All the kids dressed up as their favorite saints, from St. Francis to St. Joan of Arc. It was a colorful and joyful parade, and it really brought home the message that the saints aren't just historical figures, they are also the people who inspire us in our everyday lives.
It was really cool to see the kids' excitement and enthusiasm. It's not often you get to dress up as a saint, but it really made them think about the meaning of the celebration. All Saints Day isn't just about remembering the past, it's also about looking to the future. It's about recognizing that the saints are still alive, and we can all be saints in our own way.
The day wrapped up with a special Mass, where we prayed for all the saints and asked for their guidance. It was a beautiful and uplifting way to end a truly unforgettable day.
So, next time you hear someone say "You're a saint!," remember that you might be one yourself. We all have the potential to live a life filled with faith, love, and compassion.
And who knows, maybe one day you'll even get to join the parade at Thomas Aquinas School.
