Toronto Minor League Park Hosts Rays? What Gives?!
Okay, so I'm a huge baseball fan, and I was totally stoked to hear that the Toronto Blue Jays were going to have a minor league team in the city! But then, I saw that they were going to play their games at the same stadium as the Tampa Bay Rays minor league team... What the heck?!
Now, this is a bit confusing, right? I mean, it's pretty cool that we have a minor league team in Toronto, but why would they play in the same park as the Rays? It's not like these two teams are even in the same league, right?
Well, here's the deal. It's actually not a permanent arrangement. It's just a temporary thing. The Rays minor league team, the Durham Bulls, are playing some of their games at the TD Ballpark, which is the same park as the Blue Jays minor league team, the Vancouver Canadians, will be playing.
This is happening because the Durham Bulls stadium is undergoing renovations, and they need a place to play while it's being fixed up. They're only playing a few games there, and then they'll be back in Durham once their stadium is finished.
So, basically, it's a win-win situation for both teams. The Durham Bulls get a home field while their stadium is being renovated, and the Vancouver Canadians get to share the park with a major league team.
It's a little strange, I know, but it's just a temporary thing. So don't worry, you can still root for the Canadians at TD Ballpark, even if the Durham Bulls are playing there too.
It's just a weird little baseball quirk that's bound to cause some confusion. But hey, at least it's giving fans more baseball to watch!
