US Fast Food: Onions Gone Missing?
We’ve all been there, right? You’re craving a classic burger, but something’s just not right. You take a bite, and bam, the realization hits you like a cold fry - there are no onions.
Gone are the days of those perfectly sliced, briny, sometimes even caramelized onion rings. They used to be a staple, adding that crunch and savory flavor to every burger, sandwich, and even hot dog. But lately, it feels like they’re disappearing from fast food menus faster than a juicy cheeseburger on a busy lunch hour.
Is it the Great Onion Shortage?
Let’s face it, the food industry has been hit hard with supply chain issues lately. Everything from lettuce to chicken has been affected. Could this be another chapter in the ongoing food crisis?
While there haven't been any official reports about a nationwide onion shortage, some fast food chains have been struggling to keep up with demand. Maybe it’s a matter of cost, maybe it’s a matter of logistics, but whatever the reason, it’s leaving a gaping hole (pun intended) in our fast food experience.
What's a Burger Fan to Do?
So, what can you do if you're craving that oniony goodness? Well, you’ve got a few options:
- Speak up! Ask politely for onions. It's your right to request your preferred toppings.
- Bring your own. If you really need your onion fix, why not sneak in a little baggie of your own?
- Explore other options. Maybe a different chain has more onions. Or, you could even consider making your own burger at home.
The Onion-less Future?
We can only hope this is a temporary onion-crisis, and not the start of a dystopian future where fast food burgers are simply onion-less. After all, what’s a burger without a good, juicy onion?
Let’s just hope the onion shortage doesn’t become the next fast food nightmare.
