Liberty Wins in Overtime, One Step Closer to Championship Glory!
The New York Liberty are on fire! They just pulled off a thrilling overtime victory against the Las Vegas Aces in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals. It was a nail-biter, with the Liberty clinching a 92-90 win after a clutch performance.
The game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams trading leads throughout. The Aces looked unstoppable early on, but the Liberty were able to claw their way back into the game thanks to some incredible shooting from Sabrina Ionescu and Breanna Stewart.
Ionescu was a beast, dropping a game-high 29 points and dishing out 12 assists. This was her third straight game with 25+ points and 10+ assists, a feat only accomplished by one other player in WNBA Finals history: the legendary Sue Bird.
The Aces, however, wouldn't go down without a fight. A'ja Wilson, the 2022 MVP, scored 27 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Aces. It was a real duel between two of the best players in the league.
The game went into overtime, and it was a tense affair. Both teams were exhausted, but they kept battling. In the end, it was the Liberty who made the crucial plays. Ionescu hit the game-winning shot with 22 seconds left on the clock. The Liberty's defense also stepped up in overtime, holding the Aces to just 2 points in the extra period.
This win puts the Liberty in a great position heading into Game 3. They'll be looking to close out the series on the road in Las Vegas. The Aces, however, will be looking to bounce back and even the series. This is going to be a battle for the ages, and we can't wait to see how it unfolds!
