Grabavoy, Neville Discuss the 2024 MLS Season: It's Gonna Be Lit!
So, the 2023 MLS season is in the rearview mirror, and everyone's already looking ahead to next year. What can we expect? Is it gonna be another wild ride? We sat down with two MLS legends, Stuart "Stu" Grabavoy and Gary Neville, to get their take on the 2024 season.
Stu's Excited About Young Talent
Grabavoy, a former midfielder for the New York Red Bulls, is pumped about the influx of young talent in the league. "Man, the young guys are coming up big," he said, "There's just so much raw potential, and with the way the league is developing, these players are gonna be stars." He's particularly excited about the rise of the "Next Generation", a group of young American players who are making waves in the league.
Neville Sees a Shift in Power
Neville, the former Manchester United and England defender, is seeing a shift in the balance of power in MLS. "We're seeing a real change in the league," he said, "You can't just rely on big-name signings anymore. Teams need to be smart, and they need to develop players from within." Neville is specifically interested in seeing how the expansion teams will fare in the coming season.
The Big Questions for 2024
So, what are the big questions for the 2024 MLS season? We've got a few:
- Will LAFC win back-to-back titles? They've got the talent and the experience, but will they be able to handle the pressure?
- Can a team outside of the big markets make a run for the title? We've seen a few teams like Nashville and Austin make noise in recent years, but can they go all the way?
- How will the new expansion teams perform? This year saw the arrival of St. Louis City SC, and next year will bring two new teams, Sacramento Republic FC and San Diego Loyal SC.
It's Gonna Be a Crazy Ride
One thing is for sure, the 2024 MLS season is gonna be a wild ride. With so much talent, uncertainty, and potential, it's gonna be exciting to see how it all plays out. We can't wait!
