Blackhawks Take Down Oilers 5-2, Bedard Back in Town
The Chicago Blackhawks pulled off a huge upset on Tuesday night, taking down the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 at the United Center. Connor Bedard, the highly touted prospect who was drafted first overall by the Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Draft, made his return to Chicago and put on a show for the home crowd.
The game was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams trading goals early on. But the Blackhawks were able to take control in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead. Oilers star Connor McDavid scored a late goal in the third period to cut the lead to two, but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback.
Bedard, playing in his first NHL game at the United Center, finished the night with one assist. While he didn't get on the scoresheet himself, he was a constant threat for the Blackhawks, showing off his incredible skill and vision.
"It was awesome," Bedard said after the game. "It was a lot of fun to be back in Chicago and to play in front of these fans. We got a huge win, and that's what matters."
The win was a much-needed boost for the Blackhawks, who are still rebuilding after a couple of tough seasons. They'll look to build on this momentum as they head into the remainder of the season.
